Life changes—and sometimes your benefits need to change with it.

Making Changes

Making Changes to Your Benefits

Outside of your initial enrollment period or Open Enrollment, you generally cannot make changes to your benefit elections unless you experience a Qualifying Life Event (QLE). A QLE gives you a special enrollment period to make certain benefit changes that align with your new circumstances.

Qualifying Life Events

Certain changes in your life may allow you to add or remove coverage for yourself or your eligible dependents. QLEs may include:

  • Change in legal marital or domestic partner status
  • Birth or adoption, or another change in dependent eligibility
  • Loss or change of insurance coverage due to your spouse's employment or a dependent turning age 26
  • Change of residence, such as moving outside of your plan's service area
  • Enrollment in Medicare or Medicaid

The benefit changes you make must be consistent with your Qualifying Life Event.

How to Make Changes

If you experience a Qualifying Life Event, log in to Workday to report the event and request changes to your benefits.

Be prepared to provide information about your life event and any required supporting documentation. Once your request is approved, review your updated elections carefully and make sure you complete and submit any required benefit changes.

Don't Wait!

Qualifying Life Events have specific enrollment deadlines. Be sure to report your event and complete your benefit changes as soon as possible so you don't miss your opportunity to update coverage.

If you miss the applicable enrollment window, you'll generally need to wait until the next Open Enrollment period to make changes.
